The University of Mississippi Museum presents a series of photographs by the world renowned, Memphis-born photographer, William Eggleston. The Beautiful Mysterious: The Extraordinary Gaze of William Eggleston, the exhibition features a collection of the artist’s well known color images, as well as several never before exhibited black-and-white prints.
The museum invites the public to an opening reception on Thursday, October 6th, 2016, from 7-9 p.m. The University of Mississippi Museum will also host a William Eggleston Symposium on October 7, 2016. Panels will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., all at the Overby Center for Southern Journalism and Politics on the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford. Panel discussions will include the curator of The Beautiful Mysterious, novelist Megan Abbott, as well as William Ferris, Maude Schuyler Clay, and many others. Panels are open to the public.
