L Ross Gallery is proud to announce the October exhibition for two prominent Memphis artists, Matthew Hasty and Carl E. Moore. The exhibition Matthew Hasty “Radiance” / Carl E. Moore “Going Day by Day” opens October 3 and continues through October 27 with an opening reception for the artists Friday, October 5th, 6-8 pm.
In Matthew Hasty’s exhibition, titled “Radiance,” the artist returns his focus to the heavens. With nebulous scenery and horizons playing a secondary role, he emphasizes the ethereal beauty of the interplay between sun and sky through his luminous oil on canvas paintings. Painted from the same perspective, three of the canvases offer the viewer a progressive sunset over the course of twenty-four minutes, while the other pieces offer up various meditative and contemplative moments from the day.
For Carl E. Moore’s exhibition titled “Going Day by Day,” the artist creates non-sequential stories of daily life within the black community by placing the characters in possible past, present or future situations. “Going Day by Day is a representation of how we live and what it takes to live day to day in a world that’s become very complex and unstable as it relates to our Freedoms.” – Carl E.
