L Ross Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for regional landscape artist Matthew Hasty. The exhibition opens Wednesday, October 4 and continues through October 28 with a reception honoring the artist Friday, October 6, 6 to 8 pm.
Titled “Southern Horizons,” Matthew Hasty’s paintings continue the luminous, spiritually charged landscapes that focus primarily on light and extraordinary cloud formations and his most recent more detailed Delta renderings. In portraying the inherent beauty of the regional landscape, the artist creates a reverence for the natural world and renders a feeling of solace and order. For this exhibition Hasty has included two stunning Mississippi River paintings featuring the American Queen.
A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, FL, Matthew Hasty’s inspiration comes from 19th century landscape painters from the Hudson River School such as George Inness, as well as Russian landscape painters Arkhip Kuindji, Isaac Levitan, and Ivan Aivazovsky.
