This exhibition opens April 4 and continues through April 28 with a reception honoring the artists Friday, April 6, 6 to 8 pm.
Chuck Johnson’s oil paintings for this exhibition explore the relationship between the decorative traditions in geometric patterns found in diverse cultures and western modernism. He received both his BFA and MFA degrees from the University of Memphis where he is currently Adjunct Professor of Painting and Drawing following a lengthy career with the Pentagon as a Visual Information Specialist.
Niles Wallace, also Professor of Art at the University of Memphis, specializes in ceramics and sculpture. His unique painterly glaze process requires a slow collaboration with the kiln and is heavily influenced by his garden, another of the artist’s passions. Wallace received his BA from Edinboro State University, PA and his MFA in ceramics from Alfred University, NY.
