L Ross Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for Memphis abstract artist Jeri Ledbetter. Titled Luna Piena, the exhibit opens Wednesday, November 1 and continues through November 25 with a reception honoring the artist Friday, November 3, 6-8pm, 5040 Sanderlin Avenue.
Ledbetter’s exhibition continues her exploration of the seductive lines inspired from nature. And speaks to her process. It is like wrestling the angel: you are limited in what you can do, yet feel empowered by a beneficent source or power. Try as you might, using your own will and brush on canvas, you find yourself controlled, uplifted, bent, hastened, by the materials and the tools. There is always a surprise at the end.
Currently a student, traveler and lover of all things Italian, Jeri Ledbetter graduated from the Memphis College of Art where she received the Portfolio Scholarship and Mary Louise Dinsmore Drawing Award. In 2001 she was awarded the Best in Tennessee Exhibition award from the Tennessee State Museum.
